Barbeque Covers

Anyone who loves barbequing knows that it's important to protect your barbeque from the elements. Barbeque covers can come in a vast array of different shapes and sizes and can be made from a wide range of different materials too. Why? Because the simple fact is, a covered barbeque's life is prolonged by the protection that barbeque covers give. Adverse weather such as rain, hail, snow and wind can all serve to damage your barbeque. Moreover, an uncovered barbeque is exposed to debris such as falling leaves, dust and even bird droppings which can make it difficult to clean.

Barbeque covers are therefore essential regardless of the kind of barbeque that you have. It is best if you can buy a the cover straight from the manufacturer for your particular type of barbeque as this will ensure that you get the correct fit and will prevent it from being blown off in high winds and stormy conditions. If you can't get one from your manufacturer, don't worry as there are plenty of very good universal barbeque covers available that work well. Most of these universal cover come with hooks or ties so that they can be secured properly to your barbeque. This is useful because it will save you from waking up the next morning after a particularly bad storm and having to search for your barbeque covers when you notice it has blown away.

Barbeque covers are made from different materials

Barbeque covers are made from a range of different materials and the price often varies according to the materials used. Typically, barbeque covers are made of dense fabric, vinyl, plastic, polyester or a combination of these materials.

Polyester is considered to be the best kind of material for barbeque covers. The great thing about polyester is that it is extremely lightweight as well as being very durable. It can be used all year round from summer to winter to sun and snow. Polyester remains flexible even at minus 30 degrees, so you will never have to worry about it becoming too stiff to remove. This is certainly not the case with most fabric and vinyl barbeque covers. Polyester is special because it is water resistant and also ultraviolet resistant due to the fact it is treated with special chemicals during its manufacture. Another bonus is that the color never fades away.

Compared to polyester barbeque covers, vinyl covers tend to wear out quickly especially in colder weather as the can become stiff and brittle. When this happens they can easily break. Vinyl covers are certainly cheaper, but when you will be replacing them every couple of years, they will actually cost you more money in the long run.

Other types of barbeque covers available include fleece fabric barbeque covers which also are considered to be not nearly as good as polyester covers. This is because fleece simply rots away and falls apart over time. Fleece also takes a long time to dry after it has been raining, so it becomes vulnerable to mildew and mold which is certainly not a very pleasant find when you are thinking of cooking dinner. Lastly, fleece and other fabric barbeque covers can attract pests which will enjoy living inside the material.

Plastic barbeque covers are usually an okay choice, as they are quite hard-wearing and relatively inexpensive. However they can become stiff and break if the weather gets too cold.
